Another gem in the city of Novato is the Tuesday night farmers market. Fresh fruit and vegetables, handmade products, and artisanal goods will keep you coming to this market every week. 
 
Vintage Oaks Shopping Center is an amazing mix of shopping and food. The center has popular retail stores you might not find downtown. Along with the national big-box stores, you’ll find yummy eateries like Hopmonk Taverns and the nearby Moylan’s Brewery. Hopmonk Taverns endeavors to create an atmosphere of connection and fun, and they succeed by bringing food, live music, and beer together. You can sit in the beer garden taking in the sun or inside in the session room where the music doesn’t stop.

Novato has spectacular hillsides and stunning wildlands, totaling over 3,600 acres of open space; this makes the city an exciting playground for those who want to hike, bike, or just connect to nature. Wildlife observers and outdoors people are particularly drawn to Scottsdale Pond and Pacheco Pond Wildlife Area. Scottsdale Pond and the Scottsdale Marsh are sights to see with their vast wildlife; everything from pelicans to ducks and egrets is in the area. You’ll have to pack a pair of binoculars before heading out to the pond if you want to catch a close-up view of these beautiful birds. 
 
If you want some time out in the sun but you’re looking for something more leisurely, Novato has two public golf courses, 27 oak-studded parks, and a massive skatepark. Whatever you’re looking to do in Novato, you’ll find something that fits your preference.
